Greetings...Karen here! It's been another fun and educational week of real estate investing for Steven and myself.

Tuesday we headed for Memphis to spend some time with David. In addition to meeting his petite dynamo wife, Misty, we also met his sharp and personable assistant, Vera, and went with David and Vera to look at a house.

David presented his options to the seller in a very non-manipulative, non-pressured way that showed her that selling her home to him could work well for her, given her time frame of wanting to move by Oct. 10. He pointed out that if she listed it, she probably would not meet her time frame. But basically, he was very detached from the outcome. I think this sort of detachment is a key factor for success in real estate investing. You know that if one lead doesn't work out, there will be another around the corner (maybe even literally!) that will.

We also looked at another house David has finished rehabbing, and is ready to sell or rent. It was interesting for me to return to my hometown of Memphis and look at the homes from a real estate investment perspective.

There's more to say about our visit, but right now we are heading out of town for the weekend...fortunately, our hotel has wireless internet so we are bringing our laptops and I will write more later.
